Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is an antioxidant that helps to reduce free radical damage on our cells, and regeneration of of other antioxidants such as vitamin C and E. It is also great to support good blood sugar levels and nerve function.
It is known as 'universal antioxidant' as it is soluble in both fat and water. Our body produce a small amount, and food sources rich in ALA include red meats, organ meat (e.g. liver, kidney), broccoli, spinach and tomatoes.
For its blood sugar management properties, it may improve insulin function. Also, it can help to reduce the impact of nerve damage, that often happen in diabetics.
