Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA) is a compound derived from the fruit rinds of Garcinia cambogia (Malabar tamarind), a tropical fruit that is native to India and Southeast Asia and is commonly used to promote weight loss.
Some studies have shown that garcinia cambogia helps suppress appetite, hence making one feel full, which in turn reduces overeating and total calorie intake. Additionally, HCA has been associated with increased serotonin levels in the brain, which can help improve mood and reduce emotional eating. With that, HCA has become a popular weight loss alternative for individuals sensitive to caffeine, which is a common stimulant ingredient in weight loss products.
