Hawthorn fruit tastes sour and sweet and is traditionally used as a digestion aid, especially caused by overeating of meat and greasy foods.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine context, hawthorn promotes 'qi' (vital energy) and blood circulation hence supports cardiovascular health. Vitexin, which is an active ingredient of Hawthorn, has antioxidative properties that could reduce unhealthy blood clots in the blood vessel, reduce inflammation and support immune system.
